Discover our 2nd wave of WOI’s Living Wall this Friday, featuring the works of Anwar Djuliadi, DP Arsa, Ketut Jaya Kaprus, and Oka Astawa.
WOI (Wall of Indonesia) is a progressive art exhibition that also serves as a campaign by the artists to contribute to the identity discourse of Indonesian artists. With its dynamic settings, WOI would like to promote the development of Indonesian artists by offering a sharing platform where artists can trace the same common geographical backgrounds and exchange artistic responses beyond the technical aspect of their work.
WHAT IS INDONESIAN ARTIST?
Is it appropriate for an artist to bear a geographical title where the socio, eco political climates must put into context in order to appreciate the work of art? This question becomes more perplexing by the fact that Indonesian visual arts were built on the basis of western theory being taught in every formal art institution in Indonesia.
Join the journey of 18 Indonesian artists to explore the dialog of identity in their creative process only in WOI 2016.
WHAT IS LIVING WALL?
It is the empty white wall of Bloo Art Space that will gradually be filled with dozens on artworks from the WOI artists. Being called ‘living’, the WOI will show every step taken within this 2 months journey starting from the artists’ studio all the way to exhibiting at Bloo Art Space.
Adopting the visual style of a salon art, audiences will be part of the display process that will be finalized by Cata Odata curator team. WOI hopes to encourage a casual and spontaneous dialog between the artists and audiences.
