Levis has kicked off the year in style with the launch of their new and improved 501 CT (Customised and Tapered). Originally designed as workwear, the classic cut was made popular by the likes of James Dean and Marlon Brando on-screen, as well as Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen.Over recent years, the 501 has been enjoying something of a revived interest. But as denim enthusiasts scoured vintage stores for that perfect pair tocustomise and make their own, the denim heritage brand has been busy working on a relaunch. For 2015, the Levi’s 501 CT features a custom tailored leg for a closer fit and is designed to be worn with a modern approach. “Wear it with attitude and don’t look like you’ve tried too hard to put an outfit together,” says Levi’s Head of Design, Jonathan Cheung. “Dress them up or dress them down. Have fun in contrasts.” To celebrate the launch, Levi’s has also collaborated with Mr Porter on a three-piece, limited edition capsule collection of the Levi’s 501 CT. The capsule collection will be available from April, exclusively at Mr Porter. As far as the blue jean is concerned, this is the new classic.
